Fashion she Created
Simple, sleek, and fluid are words used to describe Coco Chanel's designs. Her outfits were designed to be worn without corsets which would liberate women and herself from the constraints. She is famous for quite a few designs but her most popular are the little black dress, the Chanel suit, the famous Coco Chanel handbag, basically any clothes with easy lines, clothes that were practical, and that allowed for lots of jewelry to be added. "She sometimes gave the impression that her success as a designer had come as easily as slipping on a cardigan," (Coco Chanel: The Legend and the Life)
Jersey
Chanel was the first fashion designer to use jersey as well. It was comfortable, practical, and simple. At the time it was used mainly for men but that didn't bother Chanel. During the war their was a shortage on supplies so it was cheap and easy to buy jersey in bulk. The jersey fabric went against fashion that was common for the time in every way; it wasn't flashy, excessive, and it didn't have a corset.
The little black dress
She defied society by creating clothes that followed a neutral pallet. Coco Chanel loved black, so when she created the little black dress it exemplified a lot of changes in society. Women usually were not allowed to wear clothes that showed their ankles and the little black dress freed the ankles, which left people in shock. Coco Chanel introduced it in a time when the bright colors, prints and heavy embroideries dominated the fashion. Initially the dress was a long sleeved black dress that was made in wool for wearing during the day and satin for wearing at night, and it shook the fashion world. Nobody had ever seen anything like it. It was simple yet elegant. The dress soon became a symbol of chic and sophisticated simplicity.

Trousers for Women
During the war time trousers were commonly worn for working women and Chanel accelerated the popularity of these pants. A careless decision made by Chanel to wear Sailor's pants instead of a swimsuit while on vacation changed history. These pants showed modesty yet in a comfortable way. The trousers were also functional for women, they could move around.

Chanel Suit
The Chanel suit is now one of her most famous creations ever. It was made with loose tweed and with a quilted silk lining, a gold chain hem, and a simple knee grazing skirt. Nobody had ever created ANYTHING like this before for women. It was practical and was used for the working women trying to build a career in a male dominated society. This suit was so simple but it was elegant, like most of her creations. It also didn't limit her movement which was a big part of all of her creations.
